I had officially lived in London for 3.5 years before I went to Duck & Waffle for the first time. For some reason, many people found that strange. Do you?
I had definitely been inside Heron Tower (the building that houses Duck & Waffle) to visit one of the bars; I just never made it to Duck & Waffle. On New Year’s Day this year, I finally went for the first time, courtesy of J. Had I actually been missing anything by not going all these years? Let’s find out…
First of all, we took advantage of their special New Year set menu, however having a look on their website it doesn’t seem like there are many things on the menu anyway. Having a name like Duck & Waffle, you kind of know what to expect.
Overall I would say the restaurant met my expectations. I wasn’t particularly blown away because we had to wait 45 mins for a PRE-PAID table. Yes you read that right, the New Year lunch deal was pre-paid, something like £60 per head. So it was more than mildly upsetting to get there early and have to wait with a limp “We’re sorry” as the only apology. That left a bad taste and I’m not sure I have entirely forgiven them.
Other than that, our waiters were great, the food was good and the view was an added bonus. Overall I would recommend.
